Packaging art locks months before ship. Anything printed on the box should assume the URL might need to point somewhere else in year two—warranty flows, recall notices, or localized content for new markets.

Separate creative from destination

Use one short path per SKU family or per regulatory region, not a raw CMS URL that will change when you rebrand. Legal can approve the visible domain; marketing can tune the landing page without reprinting cartons.

Global considerations

  • Detect language where appropriate, or offer explicit locale choices above the fold.
  • Avoid auto-playing video on cellular; respect data costs and accessibility.
  • Host privacy policy and data-collection disclosures on the destination you control.

When things go wrong

For safety communications, being able to redirect every printed code to an authoritative page quickly is not a nice-to-have—it is part of the channel’s job.
